The Saturday night La Liga football fixtures were all affected by the wildcat strike by air traffic controllers, teams having to travel by road and rail. The Barcelona match was delayed by forty-five minutes.
Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid
Eleven yellow cards, one red for Sergio Ramos and five goals, what more could you expect from a meeting of the ‘big two’?
Nerja win, Málaga don’t
Little point in playing well if you then go and throw it all away with defensive errors, which is exactly what the Blue and Whites did on Sunday, losing 2-0 to Mallorca.
Deportivo La Coruña 3-0 Málaga
Oh dear. The Blue and Whites reverted to their old ways, losing 3-0 to Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday evening. Adrián, from the penalty spot after 22 minutes, Colotto and Álvarez did the damage and Málaga find themselves back in the danger zone.
Real Madrid 4-1 Athletic Bilbao
Real Madrid played host to an Athletic Bilbao team which had conceded four goals in each of their last two away games. Despite a spirited performance, however, Athletic made it three in a row, losing the match 4-1.
Good win for Barcelona
Barcelona just edged it on their trip to Almeria on Saturday evening. Messi opened the scoring after fifteen minutes and Iniesta added a second just three minutes later.
Blue and Whites into the drop zone
Málaga are down into the drop zone after losing their fifth consecutive match, this time 1-2 to Real Sociedad. Griezmann and Llorente were the scorers for Real Sociedad, Juanmi getting one back for the Blue and Whites.
Early scare for Real Madrid
Trézéguet headed home side Hércules into an early lead against Real Madrid on Saturday evening and it stayed that way until the second half when Di Maria scored an equaliser. Two late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo wrapped things up for Real and they stay top of the pile.
Málaga lose, Nerja manage a draw
Osasuna were awarded a penalty in the second minute of their game against Málaga, and after Nekounam converted the opportunity into a goal, the home side never looked back, finally winning 3-0 with the other goals coming from Masoud and Aranda.
Wins for Real Madrid and Barcelona
Real Madrid will stay on top of the pile after a fairly comfortable 6-1 win over Racing Santander on Saturday evening.
