Real Madrid came away from Real Sociedad after a 1-2 victory but it took until the start of the second half before the first goal was scored, Di María curling one past the keeper.
First victory for the Blue and Whites
A much better performance from the Blue and Whites at the Estadio La Romareda as they beat Zaragoza 3-5 to launch themselves up the table. However, they were 0-5 just before half time so there are obviously some question marks concerning the Málaga defence.
Barcelona lose to newly promoted Hércules
The first shock of the new season as Barcelona went down 0-2 to newly promoted Hércules, Paraguayan Neson Valdez grabbing a goal in each half. A spirited performance by Hércules who probably should have won by a greater margin.
Not the best start for the Blue and Whites
Not a good start to the season for the Blue and Whites, going down 1-3 to Valencia.
Barcelona champions, Málaga survive
Barcelona are champions for the second consecutive season after beating Valladolid 4-0 and Málaga remain in La Liga following a 1-1 draw at home to Real Madrid.
Down to the wire
It is still all to play for in La Liga with quite a few issues remaining to be settled on the final day of the season next week.
Still neck and neck
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona notched up 4-1 wins so the title race looks like it will go down to the last day. At the other end, survival for Málaga could also be down to the last day.
Real Madrid leave it until the last minute
It’s still all to play for in La Liga, but only just, after Real Madrid twice had to come from behind against Osasuna and only managed to snatch victory in the final minute.
Barcelona still on top
Barcelona emerged victorious against Villarreal in a highly entertaining game although they could easily, and probably should have, been two goals down within the first eight minutes as the home side missed two relative sitters.
Wins for Barca and Real, draws for Málaga and Nerja
A 1-1 draw at Torremolinos keeps CD Nerja in tenth place in the Primera Andauluza Grupo 3. Leaders Alhaurin de la Torre had an easy 4-0 win over San Pedro and second placed Martos CD were 4-1 winners against Bailén.
