Local Police in Vélez-Málaga will soon be able to carry out speed controls using a radar equipped vehicle being provided by the DGT. The Local Police will also receive two breathaliser units for use in a campaign against drinking and driving.
Mijas to increase umber of plain clothes police officers
Mijas Council has received authorisation to increase the number of plain clothes officers in the municipality and as a result, another 29 such officers will now be patrolling the streets.

Three new Local Police officers for Torrox
The Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), has been discussing plans to restructure the organisation of the Local Police force in the municipality to improve security and public safety. The Local Police will also be augmented by three new officers, bringing the total to thirty-two.

The Court of First Instance and Instruction Number 1 in Torrox has archived yet another denuncia against the head of the Local Police in Nerja, the fifth such dismissal of a complaint brought by SIP-AN. The judge ruled that the latest action did not relate to a criminal offence.

The Málaga Provincial Court has dismissed an appeal by a Local Police officer against the archiving of a complaint against the Councillor for Local Police, Jonathan Méndez.
Disciplinary measures against police officers in Torrox
Three Torrox Local Police officers are to receive a three day suspension without pay and a further seven are to receive a written warning as a result of the mass absenteeism during the October feria celebrations which resulted in the Council having to hire a private security company to guard the police headquarters.
