It is reported that during 2013, populations in 88 of the 101 municipalities in Málaga province went down, the first time this has occurred for seventeen years.
Two more illegal bingo parlours raided
Police units attached to the Junta de Andalucia continue to crack down on illegal gambling in the region, this time raiding clandestine bingo sessions in Fuengirola and and the Málaga suburb of El Palo.
Train services axed in Málaga province
The rail network operator RENFE has axed two train services between Córdoba and Bobadilla and two between Ronda and Algeciras as part of a rationalisation plan for middle distance trains in Málaga province.
Spate of robberies in Alcaucín, Málaga province
Homes in the rural parts of Alcaucín, Málaga province, have been experiencing a spate of robberies, with at least thirty properties being targeted during the past three months.
Table olive harvest ends
The harvest of table olives this year in Málaga province, which ended a few days ago, has been estimated at 47 million kilos, 9 million kilos less than last year as a result of drought conditions. However, farmers are this time benefiting from higher prices.
Rain forecast for Friday in Málaga province
The Meteorological Office AEMET is forecasting rain for Málaga province throughout Friday with heavy precipitation of up to 15 litres per hour in Ronda, along Costa del Sol and in the Guadalhorce Valley. Temperatures, however, are expected to rise.
Cold weather to continue for a few days
The current cold weather, with temperatures ranging from 4 to 14 degrees, is expected to continue in Málaga province until Wednesday, after which the mercury should rise quite considerably. At least this is the latest forecast. There could be some rain on Friday during the ‘puente’ for Constitution Day (December 6th) and Immaculate Conception (December 8th).
Cold front hits Málaga province
A cold front has reached Málaga province and temperatures are expected to plummet from yesterday’s maximum of 20 degrees to around 14 or 15 degrees during the day today and as cold as 5 degrees at night. Temperatures in the interior will be lower. The cold wind, and the possibility of rain, will continue for most of the week.
First snows of winter in Málaga province
The first snows of winter have fallen in Málaga province, although it disappeared during tyhe day on Monday. There was a light covering on the top of Mount La Maroma (2,068 metres) for a while as well as in the Sierra de las Nieves around Ronda. Last year the snow appeared in Ronda in October.
Halloween violence
At least fourteen people were injured and ten arrests were made in various parts of Málaga province during the Halloween festivities, the most serious altercation occurring in Puerto Banus.
