More flights between Málaga and Scandinavia

The number of direct flights between Málaga and the Scandinavian countries is on the increase, with over one hundred now in operation. In the first quarter of 2010, the number of visitors from Sweden has increased by 20% when compared to 2009.

Illegal immigrant dies in Manilva

A 20 year old illegal immigrant died yesterday afternoon after apparently falling from the underside of a truck travelling on the AP-7 near Manilva, Málaga province. The incident occurred at 17:00 at km 142 on the Ap-7 in the direction of Málaga.

Málaga unemployment tops 30%

Unemployment in Málaga city rose by 10.1% during the first quarter of 2010 when compared to 2009, with another 21,300 people joining the ranks of the unemployed. Málaga, with 30.2% unemployment, has the second highest rate of any provincial capital in Spain, only Cádiz on 31.87% being higher.

Barcelona still on top

Barcelona emerged victorious against Villarreal in a highly entertaining game although they could easily, and probably should have, been two goals down within the first eight minutes as the home side missed two relative sitters.

Five cruise ships are due into Málaga port today, the Wind Spirit, Costa  Mediterránea, Silver Cloud, Costa Marina and later this evening the Wind Star.

A 1-1 draw at Torremolinos keeps CD Nerja in tenth place in the Primera Andauluza Grupo 3. Leaders Alhaurin de la Torre had an easy 4-0 win over San Pedro and second placed Martos CD were 4-1 winners against Bailén.

Three hurt in brawl in Málaga

Three people suffered minor injuries early this morning outside a bar in the Santa Bárbara district of Málaga following a discussion between two groups of youths and involving knives. The National Police are investigating the incident.

Fire victim succumbs to injuries

A man who suffered from Diogenes syndrome and who was injured in a fire at his home on March 30th has died at the Carlos Haya hospital in Málaga.

More misery for Málaga C.F.

More woe for the Blue and Whites, taking the lead against bitter rivals Sevilla through Caiecedo only to see two second half goals from Cala and Lolo turn things around and give Sevilla the three points. The Blue and Whites stay in sixteenth place, at least until tomorrow.
