The Nerja Council is wanting to end the ‘Cultural Interest’ link between the village of Maro and the Nerja Caves, something which has been in operation since the 1960’s and means that all building projects have to be approved by the Ministry of Culture.
Maro Carnaval
Saturday is Carnaval in Maro, with the procession starting at 17:00 from calle San Miguel. Following the procession, the action is at the Social Centre. At 22:00, there is a second procession culminating in the burial of the ‘Chanquete’ followed by more entertainment in the Social Centre.
Footbridge opens, at last
The pedestrian footbridge connecting Maro with the Nerja Caves was finally officially opened yesterday, two years after construction began.
