The Nerja Council has approved a project which includes the construction of a pavement on the right hand side of the road between calle San Miguel and El Ingenio in Maro.
New Festival Committee in Maro

Unique local music festival at the Nerja Caves
The International Festival of Music and Dance, which takes place each July inside the Nerja Caves, is a regular and world renowned annual event. It is the only event to take place within the magnificent caverns. Until now, that is.
Maro roundabouts
The final touches are being made to the two new roundabouts in Maro, built at a cost of €300,000 by the company Sardalla Española.
Extended service?
Nerja Council is looking at ways of improving the Tourist Train service, including extending the service to cover Maro and the Nerja Caves. Any such extension is only possible after the Council assumes control of the old N-340 coastal road within the municipality, but this move is already in progress.
Jardín Botánico Detunda
The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo Navas, has written to the Department of Environment of the Junta de Andalucía requesting that the proposed new botanical gardens in Maro be named ‘Jardín Botánico Detunda’. Maro footbridge
The bridge connecting Maro to the Nerja Caves is a step closer to completion , a 65 metre long metal structure (the walkway) now being in place across the highway. However, there is still a fair amount to be done and the project wont be completed, and the bridge officially inaugurated, until June.
