World number one Rafael Nadal recaptured the Rome Masters title from Novak Djokovic with a straight-sets win in Sunday’s final at the Foro Italico, the score 7-6 (7-2) 6-2. Another final for Nadal
Rafael Nadal had a fairly comfortable win against Nikolay Davydenko, 6-3 6-2, to reach his fifth consecutive Barcelona Open final. It was Nadal’s 24th straight win on clay and the Majorcan, the four-time defending champion, has yet to drop his serve in the tournament.
Nadal goes out in Miami
Andy Murray reached the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami with a fairly easy 6-1 6-2 victory over Fernando Verdasco, the man who beat him in the Australian Open earlier this year. World numero uno Rafael Nadal was the second Spaniard to fall at the quarter-final stage, losing 6-4 3-6 7-6 to Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro.
Rafael Nadal secures Indian Wells title
In very windy conditions, Andy Murray was no match for world numero uno Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard cruising to victory 6-1 6-2. It was Nadal’s second Indian Wells Masters title. Although very windy, Murray just didn’t look on form at all, making too many unforced errors and looking almost tentative in his approach to the game.
Spain through to quarter finals of Davis Cup
Spain are through to the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup after world number one Rafael Nadal disposed of Novak Djokovic 6-4 6-4 6-1. Second seeds Spain will now play either Germany or Austria in the quarter-finals in July.
