The Provincial Deputy for Intercity Affairs, Cristóbal Guerrero, has confirmed that the land offered by Nerja Council for the new Fire Station is currently classified as ‘rural’ under the PGOU and needs to be changed to ‘urban’ before the project can even begin.

Work on the new Fire Station in Nerja is now more likely to start during the first half of next year, which means that completion would more than likely be in 2010. It is now planned to put the project out to tender in January or February, with the actual work starting as soon as possible after that.
