What a difference a day makes, and although there is still quite a lot of white stuff on the hills, plenty of people sunning themselves down by the beach, a few on the beach and loads on the benches.

Time to try out The Good Stuff, a new cafe on the corner of avenida Castilla Perez and calle San Miguel, Nerja.
Signs of recovery
According to an announcement by the Councillor for Employment, Nuchi Moreno, the number of people affiliated to the Social Security system in Nerja rose by 368 people (7.5%) in 2013 when compared to 2012, figures being interpreted as a sign of successful job creation and economic recovery in the municipality.
IBI extension
The Provincial Revenue Office has extended the deadline for automating household IBI payments until February 14th. Paying by direct debit is one of the requirements to qualify for a grant to reduce the IBI (Rates) bill by up to 50 percent.
Carnival bars
The registration period is now open for those wishing to operate the two bars being permitted during the Nerja Carnival, which takes place from February 27th to March 2nd.
Mayor takes opportunity to defend the golf course project
At the plenary session of the Málaga Provincial Council, the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, took the floor to defend and expound the virtues of the project to build residential homes and a hotel, along with a golf course, in the municipality.
Out and About January 19th 2014…
It began to get a lot cooler on Saturday evening, I suppose it had to eventually, so the snow was no surprise. In town today, the wind wasn’t too bad, just the odd gust. A bit stronger along the riverbed but down on the seafront…whoa….blowing a gale.
There be white stuff…
Not only did the distant La Maroma have a good covering of snow today, but so did quite a few of the nearer hills.
El Colono closed for holidays
El Colono in calle Granada, Nerja, is closed for its annual holidays, so no more flamenco shows for the time being. Usually opens again round about Valentine’s Day.
A bit of good news…
And the good news is that Jim and Wendy have been reunited with their beloved pooch Sam thanks to the efforts of the residents of Nerja.
