Hallelujah!

The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has announced the start of the long-awaited sewage treatment plant in Nerja.

Nerja will revert to having its own stand at the next FITUR tourism fair, a move apparently prompted by requests from tourism-related businesses in the town. The Nerja Caves Foundation will also have a stand at the fair.

Local photographer nominated for award

Local Nerja photographer Serafín Castillo has been nominated for the Breakthrough Award for Wedding Photography in Europe 2014, a competition organised by the Unionweep directory and now in its fourth year.

Budha Bar gutted

This is the current state of the old Budha Bar in calle Gloria, Nerja.

Scrum closed?

Scrum Snack Bar in Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja, only began about a month ago but it already looks like it is going, or has gone. It hasn’t been open for a few days and there is a ‘for rent’ sign in the window.

Closed for holidays

The Coach and Horses in calle Cristo is closed until March 1st. Pepe Rico and Scarletta’s, both also in calle Cristo, are closed for holidays at the moment. The new Japanese restaurant is coming along nicely – well, the sign is up.

Wiped from the map

The Council is to request the Ministry of Tourism and Trade of the Junta de Andalucia to withdraw from circulation a cultural and tourist guide and map of Andalucia, published by Turismo Andaluz, as the town of Nerja has been omitted.

Paddle tennis courts being resurfaced

The paddle tennis courts are currently being resurfaced with artificial turf approved by the Spanish Paddle Tennis Federation. The works are due to be completed by Monday January 13th 2014.
