El Playazo businesses threatened with heavy fines

The regional Department of Environment has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the seven businesses located on El Playazo beach, Nerja, for breaching the Coastal Act, threatening fines of up to €300,506.05 for each establishment.

Lions Club of Nerja is launching a Youth Section

The Lions Club of Nerja is launching a youth section which will be open to anyone aged between 13 years and 23 years. It will be one of the few youth sections in Spain currently being operated by the Lions Club.

New edition of ‘El Bibliotorneo’

A new edition of ‘El Bibliotorneo’, a contest to encourage reading, has been set in motion and the deadline for entries is January 24th 2014.

Council requests action to help the colegio Fuente del Badén

As was to be expected, the Council approved a motion requesting the provincial delegate for Education to take the necessary steps to make the school in Fuente del Baden, Nerja, a more attractive proposition for parents when it comes time to select a school for their children.

Out and About January 6th 2014…

An absolutely glorious Three Kings Day, clear blue skies, flat calm sea and quite a few people on Torrecilla beach. Not in the water, though, that would be going a bit too far. The benches were pretty full with people catching a few rays, some looking remarkably like lobsters.

The traditional Three Kings procession took place on Sunday January 5th, starting at Parque Verano Azul and slowly making its way round the streets of Nerja.

A strange rumour….

There is a rumour circulating, as yet unconfirmed or refuted, that the Junta de Andalucia has given the businesses on Rl Playazo beach, Nerja, six weeks to quit the area.

Royal Postmen 2014

There were three Royal Post Boxes, Three Kings and three Royal Postmen for the hundreds of people who queued in Plaza de España to present their wishes for gifts for Three Kings Day on January 6th.

New Japanese restaurant opening shortly

The former El Patio Cordobés is being renovated before opening as a Japanese restaurant which will serve, amongst other things, Teppanyaki- teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried.
