La Loca Carmela in calle Jaén, Nerja, opened at the beginning of November, taking over the premises formerly occupied by Bar Alameda. Changes to the decor, of course, but no great ‘gutting’ as is so often the case.
El Viejo Sótano reopens
El Viejo Sótano – The Old Cellar – in calle Los Huertos, Nerja, has reopened after refurbishment and now also has a snack and tapas bar.
November specials at La Tahona Holandesa
La Tahona Holandesa in Plaza Garcia Caparros will be closed from November 20th to December 5th, but before that there are two specials coming up. November 7th is a Dutch Buffet from 19:30 and November 14th is an Indonesian Buffet from 19:30.
Council to urge the Junta de Andalucia to change its mind on the Virgen del Mar school
The PP government team submitted a motion requesting the Junta de Andalucia to reconsider its decision not to accredit the new Virgen del Mar school, also known as El Tablazo, in its new location.
Two bars reopening
Los Cuñaos in calle Herrera Oria reopens today in the hands of Ana and her daughter. Ana used to work in the kitchen. The bar will be open seven days a week. And the former Bar Alameda in calle Jaén will be reopening shortly as La Loca Carmela.
Still plugging away
The PP government has presented a motion requesting the Junta de Andalucia to make provision in its budget for 2014 for a number of Nerja projects deemed to be outstanding, these including the Health Centre, Fire Station and the Employment and Training Centre.
Municipal sports ordinances for 2014
The Councillor for Sports, José Alberto Tomé, has reported that the municipal sports ordinances for 2014 are currently being prepared and that in certain cases, the costs will be lowered.
Another document signed relating to the sewage plant
On Tuesday, technicians from the Ministry of Environment signed the preliminary document verifying readiness for construction of the sewage plant for Nerja, one of the many mandatory steps in the process relating to the project.

New cultural association in Nerja
A new cultural association, TEM (The Emigrated Movement) has been formed by a group of British nationals who either live in Nerja or who spend regular holidays here.
