Beach race results
The XXI Media Legua Homenaje a “Ayo” beach race was held on Burriana beach at the weekend and the overall winners were Javier Díaz Carretero from San Pedro in the male category and Belen Infante from Alora in the women’s category. The event attracted club athletes from all over the province.
Local man planning to walk to Gibraltar with cross on his back to ask for end to conflict
Local Nerja resident Justo Márquez, aged 50 years, is planning to walk from Málaga to Gibraltar with a cross on his back to demand an end to the current conflict.
More books for the library
The Municipal Library ‘Salvador Rueda’ has added another 333 titles to its inventory, bring the total number of books to 15,700. The library will shortly be ordering yet more titles, taking into account suggestions and requests from readers. The library has 3,776 registered users.
An underwhelming experience
Not a successful day for a change as I decided to continue on the Mojito trail. Someone said that Papagayo on Calahonda beach did a pretty good one so I suddenly decided a nice relaxing lunchtime salad washed down with a refreshing Mojito sounded like a good idea. Wrong. Replacement of beach shower platforms
The Council has purchased a new tractor costing €67,760 to add to the fleet of vehicles used for maintaining the beaches in the municipality. Work is also under way to replace the beach shower platforms, starting with Burriana beach, the old wooden ones being replaced with prefabricated anti-slip units.
Benefit exhibition raises €1,265 for AFADINE
The recent benefit exhibition at the Municipal Exhibition Hall in calle Cristo by artists Juan Rodríguez and Elizabet Arana raised a total of €1,265 for the local organisation AFADINE through the sale of photos and paintings. The exhibition also included works by Rafael Martín, José Guevara, Vicente Rivera, Coby Bloemisma and Ana Martín who each provided one piece of artwork.

Sloan’s temporarily closed
