Average hotel occupancy at 94.65%

According to municipal figures, hotel occupancy during the first fortnight of August has averaged 94.65%, up from 93.36% during the same period last year.

Out and About, August 18th 2013…

Can’t get bored with ‘Y Viva España’ and ‘When the Saints…’ being played by each and every accordion player. Same everywhere, no different in Torrox, Ronda…Pity there is no variety when it comes to street musicians these days with the general ‘ban’ on busking.

Art attack…

There is an art exhibition on at the Municipal Exhibition Hall in calle Cristo featuring the work of Carmen Abreu, Isabel Hueso and Pepi Barriola. Well worth a look.

Marina project parked

The Andalucia Public Ports Agency, APPA, has decided to put on hold any plans for a marina in the Axarquia and to couple such a project to the new Axarquia Costa del Sol Oriental Ports Master Plan for Andalucia 2014-2020 which will analyse the need to implement such an infrastructure.

Mojito at Bajamar

There are several good places to sit outside, relax and enjoy a drink on calle Antonio Millón, the Bajamar Cafeteria being one of the most popular. Good, friendly service and very reasonable prices.

Mid-afternoon tapas at La Piqueta

La Piqueta is a small, popular tapas bar on calle Pintada, Nerja, with a street terrace for those occasional warm days. As a tapas I was presented with a fat, juicy chorizo sausage in a bun.
