There are now two free ‘municipal’ car parks at El Playazo beach, one at each end, and there are small signs warning that there is no parking anywhere along the track. Today there were two Local Police cars down at the beach to ensure that the rules are obeyed, even by scooter drivers.
Three beaches…
A good crowd on Torrecilla beach enjoying a gloriously sunny day. A few barbies on El Chucho beach then it’s canvas city on El Playazo beach, the smell of sardines wafting through the air – slowly, as there was hardly a breath of wind.
Nerja in trouble with the Junta de Andalucia, again
The Junta de Andalucia has instigated legal proceedings against Nerja Council relating to the Social Exclusion Plan 2012, despìte the fact that the Junta started a similar plan the following year, although with fewer benefits for the unemployed.
El Playazo car park opens on Friday
The new parking area at El Playazo beach will be operational as from tomorrow, Friday June 21st 2013, according to the Council.
A walk along the Camino de Burriana…
Wednesday was quite windy in general, but it did’t stop people flocking to Burriana beach. Not many in the bars or restaurants around midday as they were all soaking up the sun. All the services are now operational on the beach, such as lifeguards and First Aid, and Wednesday was a ‘yellow flag’ day.
Potters Bar closed
Potters Bar, near the Hotel Villa Flamenca in Nerja, has closed after twenty-four years.
Coffee at Da Tino
Da Tino is in a good location at the side of the iglesia El Salvador, especially on a windy day. It’s also a relaxing place to just sit and watch the world go by. The service is good, the prices are reasonable….what more could you ask? Coffee is €1.30.
Proposal for Tourist Information Centre in Maro
There are several of the derelict old ‘casa de peones camineros’ – houses used by road builders – in the municipality and the Council has made numerous attempts to obtain jurisdiction over these premises so they can be renovated and put to good use.
Access track to Fuente del Esparto to remain open this summer
The access road to Fuente del Esparto and El Pinarillo will remain open this summer once the contract has been awarded for the exploitation of the Casa de los Mineros and the snack bar at El Pinarillo. Normally, due to fire prevention, the area is closed to motorised vehicles between June 15th and October 15th.
Increased activity by bogus gas inspectors
There have apparently been a number of complaints made during the past few days relating to bogus gas inspectors visiting homes in Nerja. As the busy summer season approaches, these sorts of incidents will only increase as unscrupulous individuals seek to take advantage of the unwary. see Gas Installations
