A bevy of vehicles on the Balcón de Europa today as filming continues on ‘All Inclusive’, a movie based in the 1970’s written and directed by Doris Dorrie, a renowned German filmmaker.
Casa Luque is now the MarBella
Casa Luque in Plaza Cavana, which opened back in 1983, has closed and has now become the MarBella, a Cervecería and Freiduría. The Luque family decided to rent out the restaurant and concentrate on raising their family.
End of an era
The last of the traditional family-run kiosks in Nerja, the Kiosko Cerica in avenida Pescia, has been consigned to history. The six square metre metal kiosk had been operated by Manuel Gutiérrez and his family for the past 42 years, at various times selling newspapers and magazines, tobacco, sweets, drinks, toys and other items.

Filming has started on the filming of ‘All Inclusive’, the latest offering from renowned German director Doris Dörrie.
Full house for the latest Empúlpate
At the weekend it was the latest edition of Empúlpate, a gala music and dance show and contest involving pupils from Secondary and Baccalaureate. It was organised by the Local Association of Parents and was held at the Nerja Cultural Centre in calle Granada.
Council requests improvements to schools in the municipality
Nerja Council has launched several initiatives in support of their numerous requests to the provincial and regional authorities for improvements to existing schools or the building of new schools in the municipality.

The Department of Employment is organising a new course for those wishing to obtain the Food Handling Certificate, a necessary requirement for anyone working in the catering industry.
Section of calle la Cruz and calle Pintada closed to traffic
Roadworks in the centre of the town mean that the section after the municipal car park entrance in calle La Cruz to calle Pintada and up calle Pintada to calle Angustias is closed to traffic until Monday May 27th. Calle Nueva will also be closed to traffic.
Japanese film crew coming to Nerja
A Japanese film crew will be in Nerja on May 27th to May 29th for a TV report. They will be filming on the streets and at various beaches in the town and the report will apparently be dealing equally with residents and tourists. The crew will also be filming in other locations in Andalucia.
