El Chucho beach in Nerja has just been flattened and tidied up and is looking rather splendid at the moment. The sea was flat calm and one or two people were swimming at Torrecilla beach.
Tapas at Mar y Sala
Lovely weather in the evenings now for sitting outside on the terraces so a quick stopover at Mar y Sala in calle Pintada, Nerja, for a beer and a tapa. The tapas was decided for me and it was a very refreshing salad comprising tomato, potato, tuna, orange, onions, egg and a few things beside. Beer and a tapa, €1.60.
Calle Chaparil, April 16th 2013
The roadworks continue in calle Chaparil, Nerja. The project to improve the paved areas began on November 22nd 2011 with a completion period of four months, which puts them almost a month over schedule so far. Still plenty to do before it is finished.
Koninginnedag…
Pocapecunia, the Charity Shop in aid of the Love A Child Foundation, has plenty of orange clothes for sale for Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day). Pocapecunia is located in calle Bella Vista in Nerja (near Villa Flamenca) and is open Mon-Sat. 10am till 1.30pm.
Meeting in Madrid
The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has attended a meeting in Madrid with the Minister of Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, the Director General of Water, Liana Ardiles, and the Minister of Justice, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, to discuss the proposed sewage treatment plant.

The Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol – Axarquia has approved a motion presented by the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, to express support for the various municipal taxi drivers and their right to pick up and drop off passengers at Málaga airport.
Success for Nerja volleyball team
Success for the infant female volleyball team at the Andalucia Championships held in Almeria at the weekend, winning all three of their group matches to qualify for the finals being held in Almeria on May 4th and 5th.
A sunny Residents Day
It was all smiles on Sunday for the latest edition of Residents Day in Nerja, clear blue skies and sunshine bringing out the crowds for an afternoon of getting to know the local groups and associations and a programme of varied entertainment in Plaza de España.
Residents Day 2013
Residents Day 2013 has a record 39 groups and organisations participating. This annual celebration takes place in the Plaza de España today, April 14th, from 12:00 to 19:00 and will begin with a performance by the Nerja Municipal Band. Plenty of food and drink on offer as well as a full afternoon of entertainment.
Spring Festival in Plaza Tutti Frutti
Today, Saturday April 27th, is the Spring Festival being held in Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja.
