Alternatives to drinking

Following constant complaints from local residents, continuous damage to street furniture and problems with the amount of debris, Nerja Council has decreed an end to the ‘botellón’ – street drinking – in the Parque Verano Azul.

Problem solved at last…

Having reported only a few weeks ago that there were 90 piles of doggy doo doo just on one side of the rio Chillar walkway, it is good to see that the authorities have responded and taken definitive action to resolve this problem once and for all. So, credit where credit is due, and we can all now look forward …

Out and about April 7th 2013…

It was a glorious Sunday morning, clear skies and warm sun, and the Balcón de Europa area was a veritable hive of activity from fairly early on. Plenty of shops open to tempt all these people into spending the odd bit of dosh. 

Agreement on Council motions having unanimous support

At the ordinary Council meeting held on Friday there were 16 items on the agenda for discussion and one of the resolutions agreed by the spokesmen  of all parties was that motions having the support of all parties at the Advisory Committee stage of proceedings should be voted upon without further discussion or intervention.

Calle El Barrio, April 4th 2013…

Work has suddenly speeded up in calle El Barrio after the Easter holiday period with a lot of activity today. With all the rain we’re having, they certainly need to make the most of dry spells if they are to achieve the required deadline.

Out and about April 2nd 2013…

Sunny during the day, rain in the evening, the weather is very strange at the moment. Clear skies can suddenly turn to cloud and rain, catching you unaware. Here’s someone enjoying a bit of the sunny part of the day.

II Noche en Blanco poster competition

The registration period is now open for the poster competition for the second Noche en Blanco to be held on May 18th, with the deadline being 13:00 on April 19th 2013.

Wine and tapas at Los Bilbainos

After a long morning ramble, what could be more inviting than a glass (or two) of Moscatel wine and a tapa at Los Bilbainos in calle Alejandro Bueno, a bar with real character. I had ‘tortilla’ – Spanish omelette – and it was smooth and tasty with just a hint of garlic I would say. Wine and tapa, €1.50.
