Buddy’s Bar in calle Málaga, Nerja, is undergoing internal renovation, so one assumes it will be reopening before too long. And there seems to be work going on inside the former Diamante Azul on avenida Mediterraneo.
A load of bollards…
The main objective of the bollards at the edge of pavements is, I believe, to provide a modicum of protection for pedestrians. On this particular stretch, perhaps the most ridiculous ever, they actually force pedestrians to step out onto the road. Bit counter-productive and waste of money.
A slow day at the office
At the latest meeting, the Council approved a motion asking the Andalucia Ports Authority to forward the report which discards Nerja as a site for a marina. In addition, and despite this rejection, the motion requests the Ports Authority to resume drafting the project for the marina and preparing an environmental impact study. Miercoles Santo 2013 procession
There were a few spots of rain at the start of the Miercoles Santo procession through the streets of Nerja but there was plenty of shelter for those onlookers who needed it. Not so for those in the procession, though.
Out and About March 26th 2013…
Tuesday was quite a nice day, especially in direct sun, and a few people even headed for the beach. The town is not exactly busy at the moment but there are a lot more people milling about than was the case last week, particularly Dutch and Irish visitors.
Bar Turry now in calle Cristo, Nerja
The tapas Taberna del Pescador in calle Cristo has become Bar Turry (formerly by the bus station). It has a good selection of tapas and the decor includes some very nice framed celebration posters from Sevilla dating back to the early 1900’s. A beer and a tapa will set you back €1.50.
Rúcula
Renovations have been completed on the former Holiday Pizzeria in calle Cristo and it has become Rúcula.
Success for volleyball team
The infant team from the Municipal Volleyball School triumphed in the Provincial Championships held in Pizarra and now head for the Regional Championships, Phase B, being held in Almeria on April 12th, 13th and 14th. The team comprises Ana Muñoz, Sara Jaime, Triana Atencia, Alba Puertollano, Lara Herrero, Giulia Hererro, Paula Piñero, Julia González, Carolina Allepone, Marina Armijo and Natalia Sánchez.
Beach Plan 2013 approved
The Ministry of Environment has approved the Nerja Beaches Plan for 2013 without requiring amendments. The Plan covers such items as sunbeds, kayaks, pedalos etc on the various beaches. The Council will now work towards getting the beaches into optimum condition for the summer period.
