According to the Council statisticians, hotel occupancy over Semanana Santa exceeded 95%, particularly from Thursday to Saturday when the rate hit 95.82%. During the same period last year the figure was 85.20%.
Foam sweet foam…
A section of the final stretch of the rio Chillar doesn’t look very appetising at the moment, although it could just be foam. Having said that, there were three young Plovers scuttling up and down in the water but skidding to a halt and doing an about turn when they reached the ‘foam’.
An appeal for volunteers

Marker buoys being placed
After receiving a favourable report from the Territorial Delegation of the Málaga Department of Environment and Territorial ordination, work has started on putting out the marker buoys for the season.

New anti-stick product being used to help clean up wax from the processions
The Council Cleaning Department will be experimenting with a new product designed to stop the candle wax sticking to the pavements during the upcoming Easter Week processions.
Perfume thieves arrested
Police have recovered €100,000 of perfumes and other items from the robberies carried out recently in Nerja, Antequera, Vélez-Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria and have arrested five Rumanians thought to be responsible for the thefts.

Access road to future Fire Station almost finished
Work on the access road to the non-existent Fire Station is almost completed and the Council expects to sign the official reception documents within a few days.
