The Local Government will this week approve a project to asphalt the stretch of the N-340 coastal road between the Punta Lara roundabout and the Rapto de Europa. Control of, and responsibility for, this stretch of the N-340 was ceded to Nerja several years ago.

Nerja is set to receive the amount of €347,277 as part of a Málaga provincial scheme to boost investment and create sustainable jobs throughout the province.
Two jailed for transporting drugs
A court in Málaga has sentenced one man to four and a half years in prison and another to four years for participation in the transport of 639 kilos of hashish from Nerja to Málaga.

Increased security during Easter week
The Council has completed preparations for various security duties during the upcoming Easter parades and celebrations, with a total of 239 agents of one description or another being drafted in.
Channel 4 back in Nerja next week
Channel 4 TV will be back in Nerja next week to record a new episode of the popular programme A Place in the Sun: Home or Away’. The film crews were last in Nerja in September 2013.
Kiosks for the summer season
The Council has begun the process of awarding the concessions for the nineteen ice cream and sweets kiosks during the summer season. There have been 29 acceptable applications, so 10 people will go on a waiting list in case anyone subsequently drops out.
