The ‘wild’ area behind the restaurant Papagayo on Calahonda beach is being totally cleared and the trees have been reduced to stumps. Guessing this is the location for the new lighting rather than the start of any work to reopen the old walkway.

Carnival Drawing Contest pictures

The drawings made by local pupils for the Carnival Drawing Contest are adorning the walls of the Youth Information Centre in calle Cristo from now until March 3rd 2014.

La Vecchia Osteria up for sale

La Vecchia Osteria in avenida Castilla Perez is up for sale. This was the restaurant opened by the people from Da Tino cafe, next to the iglesia El Salvador, but it hasn’t lasted very long.

Confirming registration on the Population Census (Padrón)

The Government has decided that all foreigners registered on the Padrón (Population Census List) who have not renewed their inscription before the end of March will be removed from the list. Carnival Drawing Contest

More than 650 drawings were received from primary school pupils for the Carnival Drawing Contest and these will be on display in the Youth Information Centre in calle Cristo until March 3rd 2014.

The Department of Development and Housing of the Málaga Provincial Council has chosen the Nerja to Maro bicycle lane project to be part of the Ciudad Amable (Friendly Town) programme.

Giner de los Rios house-museum proposal causes a stir

Paloma and Tomás Riestra Giner de los Ríos, grandchildren of the late poet Francisco Giner de los Ríos and owners of the family home in calle Carabeo, have reportedly expressed ‘complete surprise’ at hearing, through the media, that the Council wants to expropriate the property and turn it into a museum.

Golf course and El Playazo discussed in Sevilla

The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has been in Sevilla where he held a meeting with, amongst others, the Secretary general for Territorial Planning and Climate Change, Maria Nieves Masegosa, and the Deputy General of Urban Planning, José Miguel Chinchilla.

Kiosks for the 2014 season
