Three Kings 2012

Very good weather for the procession of the Three Kings – Los Reyes Magos – so the streets were crowded and the kids were kept busy trying to grab all the boiled sweets being hurled from the various floats.

New Year 2012

A good crowd on the Balcón de Europa for the New Year celebrations which this year did not include the traditional pyrotechnic display due to austerity measures.

Santa, Yorkies and spuds…

I though I’d seen it all with a Yorkie attired in a hoodie, but how wrong can one be? Well, a multi-coloured knitted body suit, complete with leggings and a separate matching bobble hat is the answer. Amazing.

Paz Vega causes a stir

Photos of actress Paz Vega posing semi-naked in front of the image of the Virgen de la Encarnación in Gerena, Sevilla, have caused a bit of a stir amongst the local population.

Christmas lights and Santa Claus

Official Christmas lights only in the main squares of Nerja this year, and a lot less of them, due to a desire by the Council to save money. Santa Claus will, however, still be making his way around town on December 23rd.

Quieter times…

Still excellent weather – long may it continue – but definitely a lot fewer people around at the moment and quite a few places, bars and restaurants mainly, have been closing or are closed for their winter break, some for as long as four months – Scarletta’s, Agape to name but three.

Early morning dippers…

While the majority of people were mooching around in jackets early this morning, one group were enjoying an early morning dip down on Torrecilla beach. Can’t imagine the water being very warm at the moment!

A glorious October day…

Still exceptionally good weather with mostly cloudless skies and the sea temperature has risen to about 25 degrees according to some reports, which explains the number of people swimming at this time of year.

Horseplay…

Plenty of horses around again today during Feria and this toddler was having great fun wandering up and down the street, even riding ‘solo’ for a short while. Best to start ’em young.
