Donkey time…

A bit of a damp start to the day but it’s only water after all. The Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is having a Halloween Open Day so it was time to grab the camera and head down to see the animals.

And the glorious weather continues…

The beautiful weather continues, although it is now a lot cooler in the evenings and a sleeve is the order of the day once it starts to get dark. Plenty of people still sunning themselves on the beaches, and venturing into the water. Must be good for the local economy.

On a glorious October day…

An absolutely glorious day in Nerja with clear skies, sun, calm seas and a lot of people milling around town today, particularly on the Balcon de Europa. Torrecilla, Calahonda, El Salon and La Caletilla beaches were also quite busy and quite a few people were enjoying a dip. Brrrr. Don’t know about Burriana, didn’t get down that far.

Photos from Chile

The rescue of the 33 Chilean miners trapped 700 metres underground after the collapse, on August 5th, of the San Jose mine near Copiapo, has to have been one of the most uplifting events of recent times. The men were kept alive over that time by supplies delivered through narrow holes drilled down to them, and kept hope through video …

All the fun of the fair

The secondary daytime feria area, Plaza Tutti Frutti and calle Antonio Millon, appears to be successful with a lot of people having fun and dancing away. A couple of bars in calle Fray Junipero Serra also set up outside bars but, being slightly outside the main area, have not been doing so well.

Balconies of Nerja

The results vary from the sublime, maybe one small pot, to something that rivals Conan Doyle’s ‘Lost World’ in its magnificence and out of which you half expect some long lost prehistoric gerbil to stick its …

Chameleon…

Walking down the Rio Chillar this afternoon I came across this little fella, quite a surprise, his skin colour perfectly adapted for the surroundings. The rio Chillar has had flowing water all year so far, even during the period June to August, most unusual but good to see. Certain parts still do need a bit of a tidy-up, though.

Please be seated…

Always seem to be more people sitting on the blocks than on the proper seats, probably because they are actually more comfortable than the real thing. Nice and smooth. No splinters. And so far (frantic grab for something wooden), they have not been hit by the blight of modern life, graffiti. Or perhaps they are just easy to clean. Or …

Still lively…

Still a lot of people milling around, particularly in the evenings, and quite a few on the various beaches. There was a large crowd outside the church this evening. Could have been a choir as there was someone who seemed to be conducting them from atop a stepladder. Or he could have been the entertainment.
