Quite a windy day today but a fair number of people milling about in the centre of Nerja, either just wandering aimlessly or sitting having refreshment and watching the world go by.
Another great San Isidro celebration
It was a bit cloudy at times and the wind was frequently blustery but it didn’t adversely affect the San Isidro celebrations which went ahead as scheduled…not that scheduled times are ever really relevant when it comes to processions in Spain. Hours before the procession was due to start, the floats were lined up nose to tail down avenida Castilla …
Out and About May 1st 2013…
A glorious May Day holiday, although you can still see the odd bit of snow on several of the hills overlooking Nerja. Plenty of people around the Balcón de Europa, a fair few on the beaches and, despite being a public holiday, most of the shops in the centre were open, at least for half of the day.
Out and about April 2nd 2013…
Sunny during the day, rain in the evening, the weather is very strange at the moment. Clear skies can suddenly turn to cloud and rain, catching you unaware. Here’s someone enjoying a bit of the sunny part of the day.
From every angle
The San Joaquin Sugar Mill, located between Nerja and Maro on the old N-340 coast road, is now derelict but remains a fascinating sight. There was a long tradition of sugar cane plantations and sugar cane mills in the area dating from the XVI century. The mill was built in 1884 by Francisco Cantarero and owned by the Marquis de …
Miercoles Santo 2013 procession
There were a few spots of rain at the start of the Miercoles Santo procession through the streets of Nerja but there was plenty of shelter for those onlookers who needed it. Not so for those in the procession, though.
Domingo de Ramos – Palm Sunday – 2013
A few spots of rain at the start of proceedings but nothing to dampen the spirits of the faithful for the first major event of Easter Week (Semana Santa – Holy Week), the Palm Sunday (Domingo de Ramos) procession from La Ermita de Ntra.Sra. de las Angustias in Plaza de la Ermita to the iglesia El Salvador on the Balcón …
Beaches, boats and Balcón…
The weather is very up and down at the moment but the sun shone through for a couple of hours today and it brought a lot of people out. There were quite a few down on Calahonda beach, enjoying the short break from the rain.
Good day for waves…
The rain stopped, the sky cleared and the sun began to shine through and it was quite a warm day in the end. The wind, however, did begin to blow but it made for some nice waves down at Torrecilla beach.
Nerja Carnival 2013
The weather stayed fine, clear skies, for the 2013 Carnival – Carnaval – procession through the streets of Nerja. A bit nippy late on but one can’t really complain, much better than in the past few years. Great participation in the procession and very colourful. Carnival 2013 Photos
