Pizarra and Álora radio stations merge

The municipalities of Pizarra and Álora have signed an agreement to merge their two radio stations into one unit under the name ‘Voz del Guadalhorce’ – Voice of the Guadalhorce. They are also looking at incorporating Cártama into the agreement.

The elections get serious in Pizarra

The PSOE in Pizarra has complained that their election posters in urbanisation Olivar have been ripped up or painted over, describing it an an outrage against democracy and accusing the IU of being behind the electoral vandalism. The IU deny the claims and say that their posters have also been vandalised.

A-357 access road to Pizarra opens again

The camino de Villalón, the most popular access road into Pizarra as it is the shortest route to the A-357, has been opened to traffic after being closed for more than one month.

Pizarra medical clinics could soon be operational

Two new medical clinics in the Zalea and Cerralba areas of Pizarra could be operational in two or three months according to the authorities. The announcement came after a visit to the works by the Mayor of Pizarra and the director of the Guadalhorce Sanitary District.

Guadalpyme secures longer opening hours for some bars over Christmas

Bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs in Álora, Cártama, Pizarra, Valle de Abdalajís and Almogía have been given permission to stay open longer during the run-up to Christmas and can now close at 06:00 instead of 04:00 as currently requiored under municipal ordinances.

Commemorative monolith for Pizarra

The Council in Pizarra used the occasion of the All Saints Day celebrations to announce that a monument commemorating the victims of the Civil War is to be placed in the cemetery once planned improvements and cleaning have taken place. The monolith is the work of malagueño artist José Seguiri.

Improvements to avenida de la Fuensanta in Pizarra

The Málaga Provincial Council, through the Delegation of Local Development and Road Network, has announced the start of work to renovate and improve avenida de la Fuensanta in Pizarra.

Speed reduction measures in Pizarra

Pizarra Council has spent €56,727.80 on twenty-four elements aimed at reducing motoring speeds in the municipality. These include raised pedestrian crossings and sonic strips. There are 12 installations in Pizarra itself, 6 in Zalea and 6 in Cerralba.
