A group of 27 youths from the Dutch town of Assen are spending nine days in Pizarra as part of a cultural exchange programme. Last year a group of ‘pizarreños’ went to Holland.
Pizarra set to approve austerity measures
At its next plenary session, Pizarra Council is expected to approve a reduction in salary of 7% for the Mayor, a 5% reduction for Councillors and a 5% in attendance allowances for meetings and commissions.
Pizarra museum reopens
Coinciding with International Day of the Museum, the Municipal Museum in Pizarra has reopened after many years of being closed for repairs. The official opening was attended by representatives from the Junta de Andalucia, Pizarra Council and the University of Málaga.
Repairs to roads in Pizarra
The Department of the Environment of the Junta de Andalucía has initiated, through the Andalusian Water Agency, the repair of two roads in Pizarra which have been closed since early winter due to flood damage.
Expropriations in Álora and Pizarra
The Ministry of Environment of the Junta de Andalucia has published a list off 244 farms in Álora and Pizarra which are to be expropriated in connection with the laying of pipes for the proposed new water treatment plant.

New roundabout in Pizarra
After six months of construction work, the new roundabout at the entrance to Pizarra is now operational. The project cost €200,000 and is the first phase of a plan to completely overhaul the local road system. The roundabout is at the junction of four roads and has, in the past, been the scene of numerous accidents.
