Tantalisingly close…

Plaza Cavana is tantalisingly close to completion, at last. Looking good. Hope the large flower pots don’t get used as extra or alternative rubbish bins. Even the barrels of the cannons on the Balcon de Europa have been filled with litter!

Plaza Cavana, May 6th 2010

The shrubbery is beginning to appear in Plaza Cavana as the work grinds slowly to completion. Still a long way to go yet with some of the other projects, namely Plaza Cantarero, Plaza de la Ermita and calle Carabeo.

Plaza Cavana, May 1st 2010

The building works in Plaza Cavana are now in their seventh month and, hopefully, nearing completion. The decorative street lamps are now in place.

Men at work…

Interesting to watch them doing the mosaic paving in Plaza Cavana.

Plaza Cavana, March 26th 2010

Work in Plaza Cavana is progressing in leaps and bounds as a last minute effort to get the square looking at least presentable for Easter continues. This sudden effort using adequate manpower for the job leads one to question why this wasn’t done from the start. If it had been, the square would have been finished long ago.

Plaza Cavana, March 23rd 2010

Almost frantic activity in Plaza Cavana at the moment, presumably a sudden attempt to get the square finished in time for Easter. Plaza Cavana still looks like a scene of devastation but it is slowly getting better. The walkway at the bottom end looks good with the mosaic bits and the centre of the square is now getting the same treatment.

Calle Granada and Plaza Cavana

Calle Granada is closed to through traffic as the bottom end near Plaza Cavana has been dug up again as part of the ongoing renovations in the square. Traffic entering calle Diputación from avenida Castilla Perez can only exit via calle El Barrio and back onto avenida Castilla Perez.

Building projects

In Plaza Cantarero, the renovations are moving along, which is more than can be said of Plaza de la Ermita where little appears to have changed in the past week. The works in Plaza Cavana are now into their fourth month but there is still a long way to go before the square is finished.

Plaza Cavana, February 20th 2010

Things are slowly starting to take shape in calle Carmen and Plaza Cavana as the building works trundle along. New paving is appearing along one side of the square (the side containing La Caixa and Casa El Luque) and pedestrian access is becoming a little easier. Vehicle access in the area, however, is still fairly restricted with calle Granada often …
