The Mayor of Burgos, Javier Lacalle, has announced the permanent cessation of works to convert calle Vitoria into a boulevard, the decision following five nights of protests and 46 arrests.
Second night of violence in Burgos
There has been a second night of disturbances in the Gamonal district of Burgos with street furniture being burned or damaged and run-ins between the protesters and riot police.
Protest by military associations
Members of the Unified Association of Spanish Military (AUME) gathered outside the Ministry of Defence on Saturday to protest against the arrest of its president, Lieutenant Jorge Bravo.
Protests at lack of running water in Valle de Abdalajís
The Málaga provincial Council is sending trucks of water to Valle de Abdalajís where many residents remain without running water to their homes. Several residents have locked themselves in the Town Hall as a protest and five have started a hunger strike.
Unions plan May Day rallies and protests
The CCOO and UGT unions have organised around 80 rallies and protests all over the country for May Day, the main event being in Madrid, starting at Plaza de Neptuno and finishing with speeches at Puerta de Sol.

After holding further meetings, municipal workers in Jerez de la Frontera have decided to continue their protests against the lay-offs announced by the Council on Friday.

Around 25,000 protesters have defied a government ban and remained overnight in a square in Madrid, with a similar situation occurring in many cities across Spain.

Goat farmers back on the warpath
The grave situation being experienced by the dairy goat farmers in the Antequera area has prompted the Unión de Pequeños Agricultores y Ganaderos (UPA) to establish a timetable of demonstrations to try and put pressure on both the government and the industry.
Goat herders suspend protests
Goat herders in Antequera have suspended their protests until next Thursday and talks are set to resume between COAG, the agricultural association, and the companies Forlactaria and García Baquero who, between them, control 80% of the goat milk market.
