The Council is taking steps to restore two large decorative amphoras, gifts from the director of the TV series Verano Azul, Antonio Mercero, and actor Antonio Ferrandis, which used to adorn the Balcón de Europa.
Restoration of the old Granary building
The Mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Francisco Delgado Bonilla, has announced that the restoration of the eighteenth century Pósito (Granary) building will begin in March, adding that it is one of the projects most demanded by residents of the town.
Council to seek permission to restore the Torrecilla watchtower
Nerja Council is set to ask the Department of Coasts for permission to write a project to restore the former watchtower on Torrecilla beach, currently little more than a pile of stones.
Restoration of Álora castle
Álora Council has approved a modified draft project and contract specifications for the restoration of the Castillo de Las Torres. The technical criteria were modified after excavations unearthed some surprises, such as some XVI century wall paintings.

Restoration work has already started on El Chucho beach which was very badly damaged by bad weather, as usual. The western, Torrecilla end is almost non-existent at the moment.
Council to once again request action to restore the old Torrecilla watchtower
The Council is currently resubmitting requests to the various administrations relating to outstanding or proposed projects, the latest being to the Department of Coasts regarding the restoration of the watchtower at the end of Torrecilla beach. The Council has been regularly requesting the restoration for a decade now.
Return of historical document to Mijas
An historical XVI century document known as ‘Los Alardes de Velas’ has been returned to the Mijas municipal archives after undergoing comprehensive restoration.

Aquaduct restoration works on schedule
According to the Councillor for Tourism, José Miguel García, work on restoring the Eagle Aquaduct is proceeding on schedule. The edifice is currently covered with around 4,000 metres of scaffolding.
