Wins for Real and Sevilla

Real Madrid are back to eight points behind Barcelona after a 0-2 win over Rayo Vallecano, the match having been postponed for 24 hours after the lighting system at Rayo was sabotaged.

Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Málaga

Málaga slip to third in La Liga after sharing the points with Athletic Bilbao in a 0-0 draw, Mallorca taking over second spot after a 2-0 win against Valencia.

Barcelona 2-0 Granada

Barcelona almost had to settle for a point against visiting Granada on Saturday until an 87th minute goal from Xavi , followed by a 92nd minute own goal by Borja Gómez, gave them victory and a very flattering scoreline.

Barcelona march on

It was good while it lasted but Barcelona are back on top of La Liga after a 1-4 win at Getafe, although Málaga remain in second place after Saturday’s matches.

Málaga 3-1 Levante

Málaga C.F. are keeping the top spot warm in La Ligaafter a 3-1 victory over Levante at La Rosaleda. Saviola started the ball rolling with a goal in the 27th minute and second half strikes from Joaquín and Portillo made it a relatively comfortable win in the end.

Barcelona win, Real Madrid don’t

Barcelona came from a goal behind at Osasuna to win 1-2 and stay top of La Liga, Messi scoring both goals for the visitors after Llorente had given the home side an early lead.

Good start for Tito Vilanova

Goals from Puyol, Messi (2), Pedro and Villa gave Barcelona an easy win against Real Sociedad, a great start for new coach Tito Vilanova. Castro was the scorer for Real Sociedad.

Pedrosa wins in Germany

Spain’s Dani Pedrosa claimed his first win of the season at the German MotoGP after Casey Stoner crashed out on the last lap. As a result, Jorge Lorenzo was gifted second place and he now leads Pedrosa by 14 points in the standings, with Stoner dropping to third place.

Tense final day of La Liga
