Málaga have moved up into fourth place in la Liga, at least until Sunday, after a 1-3 win at Getafe.
Wins for Real and Barca
A 54th minute goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, his 29th of the season so far, was enough to see Real Madrid overcome a stubborn Rayo Vallecano.
Málaga 5-1 Zaragoza
The Blue and Whites went a goal behind against bottom club Zaragoza, Aranda the scorer, but then amazingly staged a second half recovery to end up 5-1 winners.
Barcelona 5-1 Valencia
Valencia took an early lead against Barcelona through Piatti but ended up being thrashed 5-1, Lionel Messi helping himself to four goals with Xavi adding the fifth.
Athletic Bilbao 3-0 Málaga
Málaga slip down to eighth place in La Liga and Athletic Bilbao move up to fourth after a 3-0 victory for the Basque side, the goals all coming within a three minute period in the second half courtesy of Amorebieta, San José and Toquero.
Real Madrid 4-0 Racing Santander
Real Madrid are, at least temporarily, 13 points clear at the top of La Liga after a comfortable 4-0 against Racing Santander.
Real Madrid go ten points clear
Real Madrid are now ten points clear after a 4-2 win over Levante on Sunday evening and must now be clear favourites to win La Liga. A hat-trick from Ronaldo, one from the penalty spot, and one from Benzema saw Real claim the three points against Levante, the final score 4-2. Kabrál and Koné were the scorers for Levante.
Málaga 3-1 Mallorca
A good win for Málaga which takes them up to seventh place in La Liga, but they had to come from a goal down against Mallorca.
Osasuna 3-2 Barcelona
Although it is never over until the woman of substance vocalises, a win for Real Madrid on Sunday could see them move ten points clear in La Liga after Barcelona failed to win on their visit to Osasuna on Saturday evening.
Top two march on
No change at the top as both Real and Barcelona managed to win their matches on Saturday evening.
