Four people lost their lives on the roads in Andalucía at the weekend in three fatal accidents.
Weekend toll
A total of 22 people lost their lives on the roads in Spain at the weekend, with a further 10 people seriously injured. During January 2009, there were 153 fatalities on the Spanish roads, 21 (12%) fewer than the same period last year.
Christmas toll
A total of 76 people died on the roads of Spain during the Christmas period, which started on December 19th. There were 14 fatalities in Andalucía. The total is 10 more than the same period last year, despite intensice police campaigns. During the whole of 2008, some 2,182 people died in road traffic accidents.
Weekend toll
A total of 16 people died on the roads of Spain at the weekend as bad weather made conditions more treacherous than normal. Two of the fatalities were in Andalucía. However, despite the bad weather, the figure was three less than during the corresponding weekend last year.

A total of 25 people lost their lives on the Spanish roads during the long, Constitution weekend with a further 11 being seriously injured.

A total of nine people lost their lives on the Spanish roads at the weekend, with another four people seriously injured. One of the fatalities was in Andalucía, a 29 year old youth dying after his car left the road near Alcaracejos, Córdoba.
