A total of 19 people lost their lives on the Spanish roads at the weekend with a further 14 people suffering serious injury.
Weekend toll
A total of 9 people were killed on the roads of Spain at the weekend, the lowest figure of the year and 24 less than during the corresponding weekend last year. There were no fatalities in Andalucía. Overall, 1,525 people have lost their lives on the roads this year, 20% fewer than during 2007.
Holiday toll
A total of 450 people lost their lives on the roads of Spain during July and August, the lowest figure since 1964. There were 232 fatalities in July and 218 in August, with 70 being motorcyclists.
