Romeria in Vélez-Málaga
Saturday May 19th is the XXXIV Romería in honour of the patron saint of Vélez-Málaga, the Virgen de los Remedios Coronada, starting at 16:00 with a Mass, accompanied by the Peña Axarquía Choir, on El Cerro. The Romeria will then head to finca La Pola where it will remain until Sunday.

Celebrations in Alhaurín el Grande
This weekend in the La Mota area of Alhaurín el Grande is the romeria (pilgrimage) in honour of Cristo de las Agonías. The outward journey begins at 17:30 with the return journey on Sunday, the winner of the best float having the honour of carrying the statue back.
Almayate pilgrimage cancelled
The Brotherhood of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Hermandad del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) in Almayate, Vélez-Málaga, has decided to suspend this year’s pilgrimage due to the death last Monday of one of the members of its governing body. The man died after being hit by an ox cart during the preparations for the pilgrimage.

The parque de Los Olivos in Mijas, which has undergone a series of improvements, is all ready for Sunday’s romería in honour of Santa Teresa. Barbecues, tables, benches and public toilets are just some of the improvements made to the area.
