Two people, aged 24 years and 36 years, have been arrested in Ronda for stealing a car, chopping it up and selling it to a junkyard in the town. The car had been stolen five days earlier in calle Monterejas.
Two young burglars arrested in Ronda
Police in Ronda have arrested two youths, 22 year old J.M.D.C.C and 18 year old D.C.L. as the alleged perpetrators of robbery after catching them red-handed as they transferred stolen goods to their vehicle.
Improvements to sports facilities in Ronda
Ronda Council has invested €250,000, of which fifty percent was funded by the Junta de Andalucia, in improvements to sporting facilities in the town. The works being finalised date back to 2009, so are a little behind schedule.
Rain damage in Ronda estimated at €300,000
The recent rains have caused €300,000 worth of damage to roads and agricultural tracks in the Serrania de Ronda, according to Ronda Council.
First Lego League
Students from IES Rodríguez Delgado in Ronda have won the provincial final of the First Lego League, this year dedicated to improve the quality of life of the elderly. The First Lego League is an international robotics tournament held annually since 1998.
Network for women entrepreneurs in Ronda
The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Ronda (Aseromep), the Association of Gypsy Women ‘Brandi Cayi’, Women’s Association ‘Rebirth’ and Ronda Council have launched a network to help women entrepreneurs in the municipality.
€1.5 million grant for Ronda
Ronda is set to receive €1.5 million from the Junta de Andalucia under the Emergency Plan for Employment to carry out works on educational facilities in Serrato and Montecorto and for reforestation works to be carried out on the outskirts of the municipality.
Ronda increases tax for occupation of public roads
Ronda Council has approved a 5% increase in the tax for occupation of public roads. In addition, this will now be levied based upon the area occupied rather than the number of tables and chairs.
A few changes in the Ronda government due to resignations
The government team in Ronda, comprising members of the PP and PA, has undergone a bit of a restructuring after the resignation of the Councillor for Agriculture, Manuel López (PP), for personal reasons and the Councillor for Public Works and Planning, Daniel Harillo (PA), following disagreements with fellow party members.
Ronda skate park out to tender
Ronda Council has opened the bidding process for the construction of a new skate park and nine petanca pistes, a contract worth about €300,000.
