Ronda Council has approved the elimination of four municipal agencies in order to streamline the administrative structure and save in the region of €210,000. The move was approved through the votes of the PA and PP government team with the socialists voting against and the IU-LV-CA abstaining.
Ronda trying to cut electricity costs
Ronda Council has commissioned a study aimed at reducing the municipal electricity bill, currently around €900,000 per year. The aim is to reduce this by €400,000 as well as improve and modernise lighting in the city.
Ronda fire damage estimated at €60,000
Damage caused to the facilities of the municipal cleaning service, Soliarsa, in Ronda on Sunday has been estimated at €60,000. One hypothesis is that the fire occurred during a robbery at the premises where various tools and equipment are stored.
New Fire Brigade calendar on sale
The Provincial Fire Consortium (CPB) Malaga has presented its new calendar for 2013 which has been prepared by the staff based in the town of Ronda. The format is different this year with firefighting scenes also being depicted. There are 2,500 copies being printed and the calendar will cost €3, with proceeds going to charities and charitable works.

A fire on Sunday afternoon destroyed the municipal cleaning service warehouse in Ronda, the damage being so bad that the building will have to be demolished.
Remodelling of avenida de Málaga in Ronda
Ronda Council has started the remodelling of avenida de Málaga, the principal arterial road in the town, a project which will cost in the region of €500,000.
Second Maskom supermarket in Ronda
The supermarket chain Maskom has opened a second facility in Ronda, a 680 square metre premises in calle Tabares in the centre of town. Maskom have 47 supermarkets in Málaga, Sevilla and Cádiz provinces. The new facility will employ 15 people.
New skate park for Ronda
Ronda council has announced the tendering process for the contract to build a new skate park and nine petanca courts, the project budgeted at €300,000 and financed out of municipal coffers. The project was included in the PP manifesto at the last municipal elections.
First ‘blue zone’ parking in Ronda
Ronda is set to implement its first ‘blue zone’ parking tax as from December, with 174 spaces being available in the Concepción (free) car parking area.
Criticised for saving money
The Councillor for Tourism in Ronda, Isabel Barriga (PA), has had to answer criticism relating to the new tourism logo designed by cartoonist Mikel Urmeneta. The IU denounced the fact that the design was not put out to public competition.
