The Education Department of Nerja Council is putting into operation an initiative to try and reduce the amount of absenteeism in schools.
New activity for students in the municipality
From December 9th to 12th is a new activity for students in the municipality being developed within the programme ‘Imagina’, this one relating to the medium of film.
Protest against unpaid debts
Two thousand children in sixty-two municipal nursery and primary schools in Sevilla were without a meal service on Monday as those responsible for the centres decided to take industrial action to try and force the Junta de Andalucia to pay its debts.
Junta de Andalucia begins providing meals for schools
Today, Monday June 2nd, sees the start of measures by the Junta de Andalucia to provide meals at schools for children at risk of social exclusion and could benefit 50,000 pupils when fully implemented.
Council requests improvements to schools in the municipality
Nerja Council has launched several initiatives in support of their numerous requests to the provincial and regional authorities for improvements to existing schools or the building of new schools in the municipality.
Cultural exchange
A group of French students and teachers from Fontainebleau have been spending the past few weeks with families in Torrox as part of a cultural exchange project in conjunction with the IES Alfaguar. Students from Torrox will be travelling to France in July to improve their French language skills.
Road safety programme for Primary pupils
Torrox Town Hall has started a road safety programme aimed at Primary school pupils. The course has started at the colegio Mare Nostrum and aims to involve all pupils in the municipality, some 1,500 in total.
Council to invest €650,000 for the cleaning of schools
The Council is to invest €650,000 in the maintenance and cleaning of a dozen schools and colleges in the municipality. The new concessionaire will not only provide the regular cleaning services but will also provide personnel to be available to perform urgent tasks.
Back to school part two
A total of 878,891 students in Andalucia – Secondary, Adult Education, Bachillerato and others – start back at schools and colleges today after the summer break. Although the number of students remains the same, the number of teachers does not.
Back to school with the normal chaos expected
Nearly one million pupils, 561,357 Primary and 393,433 Kindergarten, return to school on Monday after the summer break with Secondary and other schools starting on September 17th.
