The olive harvest in the Serranía de Ronda is expected to be down by around 60% on last year, although not all of the crop is in yet. Last year the harvest was 7.5 million tons but drought and autumn and winter frost have taken their toll.
Chestnut harvest 36% down on last year
The extended summer and hot temperatures until the end of October have affected the chestnut harvest in the Serrania de Ronda, this year’s harvest being 35.9% less than in 2010.
Call for more action to combat thefts in the Serrania de Ronda
The Association of Young Farmers, ASAJA, has called for more action from the security forces in the Serrania de Ronda to combat the increasing number of rural thefts of cattle, fruit and vegetables and farm machinery.

The grape harvest in the Serranía de Ronda is expected to be between 5% and 10% higher than last year according to the Agrarian Association of Young Farmers (Asaja) in Ronda.
