Domestic violence fatality in Sevilla

A 29 year old woman, Cristina M.R., died yesterday after being stabbed by her partner. The incident occurred in calle Cigüeña in the Los Pajaritos area of Sevilla. The alleged assailant is also in hospital.

A man from the Nueva Sevilla area of Castilleja de la Cuesta, Sevilla, was arrested on Friday in connection with the stabbing of his wife. The man apparently stabbed his wife at their home and then took her to the hospital where he tried, unsuccessfully, to claim that the injuries were the result of a domestic accident.

Strange robbery

A group of people yesterday carried out a rather strange robbery at a market in Sevilla. Handcuffing the local security guard, the group then proceeded to steal some pieces of ham.

According to reports in several Spanish newspapers, the Bruce Springsteen concert in Sevilla has been changed from July 30th to July 28th. Presumably this is just a switch with the existing Benidorm concert originally planned for July 28th. The official Bruce Springsteen website still shows Sevilla for the 30th.

Murder in Sevilla was possibly related to a settling of accounts

A settling of accounts, perhaps drugs related, is believed to have been the cause of the death of a 31 year old woman in Mairena del Aljarafe, Sevilla. The most reliable version of events indicates that the husband of the deceased was being chased by four youths and ran to his home in calle san Isidro Labrador.

New AVE link starts today

Today sees the start of the new AVE high speed rail links from Barcelona to Málaga and Sevilla using the new bypass section which means the trains no longer have to stop in Madrid. This reduces the traveling time by 50 minutes, bringing it down to 5 hours 40 minutes. The times of the trains are as follows:
