Although some of the snow on the hills has melted in the past couple of days, there is still a fair amount to be seen in the distance.
Snow alerts for Granada and Jaén provinces
Much of Granada and Jaén provinces are on ‘ orange’ alert for significant risk of snowfall, with Almeria on ‘yellow’ alert for similar reasons.
First snow at the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort
The drop in temperature has resulted in the first snows at the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort in Granada.

What a difference a day makes, and although there is still quite a lot of white stuff on the hills, plenty of people sunning themselves down by the beach, a few on the beach and loads on the benches.

Not only did the distant La Maroma have a good covering of snow today, but so did quite a few of the nearer hills.
Eleven motorists rescued following snow storm
A total of eleven people had to be rescued on Christmas Day after becoming trapped by snow on the A-1178 between the towns of Bacares and Serón in Almeria.
Winter snows in Andalucia
The first snows have arrived in Granada and Jaên provinces, particularly in the Sierra Nevada mountains, which bodes well for the start of the new ski season at the end of the month.
Out and About May 1st 2013…
A glorious May Day holiday, although you can still see the odd bit of snow on several of the hills overlooking Nerja. Plenty of people around the Balcón de Europa, a fair few on the beaches and, despite being a public holiday, most of the shops in the centre were open, at least for half of the day.
