Appeal for cooperation during general strike

The Government delegate in Andalucia, Carmen Crespo, has appealed for the cooperation of unions and other organisations planning demonstrations for Wednesday to avoid conflict so that the day ends without incident.

Transport levels during the general strike

The Ministry of Public Works and CCOO and UGT unions have agreed minimum service levels for the transport sector during the general strike on Wednesday November 14th.

CPI up by eight tenths in October

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by eight tenths in October when compared to the previous month, with the annual rate now standing at 3.5%. The rise was caused by a number of sectors, such as clothing and footwear for the start of the winter season, education, kitchenware and food.

Self-employed not in favour of general strike

According to the ATA, the Association of Independent Workers of Andalucia, 75% of self-employed people do not support the general strike called by the CCCOO and UGT unions for November 14th.

New record unemployment figure

Registered unemployment is at its highest level since comparable records began back in 1996, with 4,833,521 officially out of work. This represents an increase of 2.7% compared to September. From October 2011 to October 2012, unemployment has risen by 10.84%.

Car sales still declining

Car registrations in October were 44,873 units, down by 21.7% over the same month in 2011. Year to date, 600,237 cars and SUVs have been sold, a decrease of 11.9% compared with the same period last year.
