10 killed on the roads in Spain at the weekend

Ten people died on the roads in Spain over the weekend, one of those occurring in Andalucia. Three other people suffered serious injuries and a further three had minor injuries.

August tourism stats

A total of 7.64 million foreign tourists visited Spain during August, up 9.4% on 2010 and the highest monthly number of all time.

Summer is almost over

It may come as a surprise to a lot of people but, taking Spain as a whole, the summer of 2011 was the fourth coldest so far this century after 2002, 2007 and 2008. Summer officially ends at 11:05 on Friday and the weather is expected to change and become more unsettled from the middle of next week.

Barcelona looked to be well on the way to victory against Real Sociedad after Xavi and Favrigas put them two goals ahead within the first ten minutes, but Real fought back to earn a 2-2 draw, Agirretxe and Griezmann the scorers.

Deficit in Andalucia is 1.49% of GDP

In the first half of 2011, Andalucia has registered a deficit of 1.49% of GDP putting it in sixth place in the list of communities showing a negative balance.

Political figures are not badly off

The financial situations of the two major presidential candidates, Rubalcaba (PSOE) and Rajoy (PP), are described as ‘not bad’ according to the declaration of assets made public by the Congress of Deputies.
