The King of Spain has undergone surgery this morning at the Hospital Clínico in Barcelona for a growth on his right lung. The 72 year old monarch arrived at the hospital at 07:30 and the operation began at 09:20, the surgery being carried out by Dr Laureano Molins López-Rodó and his team.

A team of 30 doctors in Barcelona have performed the first full face transplant to be carried out anywhere in the world. As well as skin tissue, the patient received new cheekbones, facial muscles, teeth, palate, skin, nose, lips and jaw.
First quarter tourism
Figures for the first quarter of 2010 show that a total of 8.81 million foreign visitors arrived in Spain during the period, up 0.3% on the same period last year, with Andalucia registering a 7.4% increase.
