An eighteen year old ‘L’ driver was clocked doing 216 kph by a Guardia Civil speed trap on the road between Irún and Santiago in the municipality of Vilalba. The youth, who lives in Burela, was duly apprehended and charged with a crime against road safety. The speed limit in the area is 80 kph.

The latest DGT road safety ‘campaign’, carried out between August 11th and August 24th, has resulted in 33,898 drivers being denounced for speeding.
