A stop at Vicente in calle Málaga, Nerja, is always worth it. The tapas are large portions and great value and the atmosphere is always good. Here is a short video from my latest visit.
Sunday lunchtime tapas at El Puente
Popped in to El Puente, at the western end of Nerja, for a quick lunchtime tapa and it was as good as ever. El Puente is invariably bustling with activity at lunchtime and yesterday, being a hot day, the terraces were almost full.
Lunchtime gambas at La Marina
Stopped off in La Marina in Plaza La Marina, Nerja, for a quick tapas, excellent as usual. I had a large plate of gambas and a beer, good value at €1.40. Always a popular haunt at lunchtimes and one of the best fish restaurants in town.
Tapas at El Pulguilla
It is very difficult just to have one tapa at El Pulguilla in calle Cristo, Nerja, as they are always so rasty. My first was ‘bacalao’ (cod) and it was succulent, beautifully cooked and flavoured and covered with a garlicky sauce. The flavour of the sauce lingered, and I could still taste it over an hour later. Delightful.
Tapas at Mar y Sala
Lovely weather in the evenings now for sitting outside on the terraces so a quick stopover at Mar y Sala in calle Pintada, Nerja, for a beer and a tapa. The tapas was decided for me and it was a very refreshing salad comprising tomato, potato, tuna, orange, onions, egg and a few things beside. Beer and a tapa, €1.60.
Wine and tapas at Los Bilbainos
After a long morning ramble, what could be more inviting than a glass (or two) of Moscatel wine and a tapa at Los Bilbainos in calle Alejandro Bueno, a bar with real character. I had ‘tortilla’ – Spanish omelette – and it was smooth and tasty with just a hint of garlic I would say. Wine and tapa, €1.50.
Tapas at Mesón Asador de Castilla
Lunchtime tapas at Mesón Asador de Castilla in calle Málaga, Nerja, and a really delightful ‘Bacalao con huevo’ – cod with egg. Good portions, good atmosphere and great food but with tapas no longer included with drinks, it makes it €2.50 for a small beer and tapa and a bit on the expensive side for more than one.
Lunchtime tapas at Torre de las Guardas
Haven’t been to Torre de las Guardas in calle Chaparil for a while so that was lunchtime tapas sorted. The bar closed for a few weeks while the roadworks were in full swing in that sector but is now open as usual.
Tapas at Jaime
Jaime in calle Jaén is a nice, small friendly bar with a small street terrace. As a tapa I chose ‘higado’ (liver), a simple dish but not always the easiest to get right. This one was pretty good, nice texture and a very nice sauce. And a good portion. A beer and a tapa, €1.40.
Tapas at El Ancla
It’s new, so it has to be tried. El Ancla – formerly Paradise Cocktail Bar (for a short time) and Metropolis – is a new tapas bar in Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja. The bar is very spacious, plenty of tables, and there is a good terrace on the square.
