Nadal goes out of French Open
World number one Rafael Nadal suffered his first ever defeat at the French Open, losing 6-2 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-2) to Sweden’s Robin Soderling. Nadal was hoping for a fifth straight Roland Garros, instead he saw his 31-match unbeaten run come to an end in one of the biggest upsets in tennis history.
Nadal loses Madrid Open final
Rafael Nadal’s impressive run of 35 consecutive victories on clay came to an end on Sunday after he was beaten 6-4 6-4 in the final of the Madrid Open by Roger Federer. This was only Federers second win against Nadal on clay in eleven attempts and he was understandably happy with his victory.
Nadal wins in Rome
World number one Rafael Nadal recaptured the Rome Masters title from Novak Djokovic with a straight-sets win in Sunday’s final at the Foro Italico, the score 7-6 (7-2) 6-2. Nadal is now unbeaten on clay in 30 matches. Nadal’s victory over the defending champion also means that, as from May 10th, Britain’s Andy Murray takes over the number three position …

Rafael Nadal had a fairly comfortable win against Nikolay Davydenko, 6-3 6-2, to reach his fifth consecutive Barcelona Open final. It was Nadal’s 24th straight win on clay and the Majorcan, the four-time defending champion, has yet to drop his serve in the tournament.

World number one, Rafael Nadal, began the clay court season with a straightforward win over Argentina’s Juan Ignacio Chela in the Monte Carlo Masters tournament, the score 6-2 6-3. Nadal is going for his fifth straight title in Monte Carlo.
Nadal goes out in Miami
Andy Murray reached the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami with a fairly easy 6-1 6-2 victory over Fernando Verdasco, the man who beat him in the Australian Open earlier this year. World numero uno Rafael Nadal was the second Spaniard to fall at the quarter-final stage, losing 6-4 3-6 7-6 to Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro.
Rafael Nadal secures Indian Wells title
In very windy conditions, Andy Murray was no match for world numero uno Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard cruising to victory 6-1 6-2. It was Nadal’s second Indian Wells Masters title. Although very windy, Murray just didn’t look on form at all, making too many unforced errors and looking almost tentative in his approach to the game.
