A woman walking her dogs on the beach in Almayate, Vélez-Málaga, raised the alarm after noticing something not quite right at a beachfront urbanisation of apartments used as second homes. It turned out that all the apartments in the urbanisation, some thirty properties, had been robbed.
Theft of copper wire in Rincón de la Victoria
A stretch of the road between Rincón de la Victoria and Macharaviaya is without lighting after thieves stole 500 metres of copper wire from four power cables during the early hours of Monday morning.

Numerous residential areas in Jerez de la Frontera have been without public lighting since Christmas as a result of thefts of copper wire, with the Council unable to keep replacing the stolen material due to a lack of funds.
Theft of festive plants becoming a habit
The disappearance of the festive poinsettias in Vélez-Málaga is becoming a habit, with over 300 plants having been stolen from parks, gardens and other sites. Last year the Council replaced around 800 stolen plants, but this year there will be no replacements as they will more than likely just get nicked again.
Thieves target San Miguel school and the Nerja Cultural Centre
Thieves broke into the San Miguel school on avenida Castilla Perez in the early hours of Monday morning and stole instruments belonging to pupils of the Municipal School of Music as well as making off with a computer and a projector.
Gang of thieves arrested
The National Police have arrested eight members of an organised gang whose main activity was stealing from cars parked at shopping centres, golf courses and hotels along the Costa del Sol.
Spate of thefts…
At least four people had their wallets or purses expertly lifted today, one poor woman losing everything she had – money, cards etc – so do take extra care at the moment. There seems to be an element of targeting with the thefts so keep your eyes peeled.
Gang of thieves arrested in Chiclana de la Frontera
Guardia Civil officers in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz, have arrested nine people aged between 23 years and 36 years allegedly involved in at least 32 thefts from homes in the area, often while the occupants were sleeping.
