Torre del Mar garden project completed

Work on the gardens of the old sugar factory in Torre del Mar have been completed at a cost of €180,649. The gardens cover an area of 5,215 square metres and have been treated, the soil area stabilised and the green area planted with roses, palms and flamboyant.

More delays to Torre del Mar Sugar Museum

The project to convert the old Nuestra Señora del Carmen sugar factory in Torre del Mar into a museum continues to be beset by problems and is highly unlikely to be opening to the public in the summer as had been planned.

New theatre for Torre del Mar

The future theatre in Torre del Mar is now to be built near the covered sports stadium and indoor swimming pool to make a large sports and entertainment centre.

Vélez-Málaga parking

Vélez-Málaga Council is taking the necessary steps to introduce a ‘blue zone’ parking system in the commercial areas of Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar, the idea being limited time parking in certain streets to encourage the rotation of vehicles.

Art exhibition in Torre del Mar

There is an exhibition by the Málaga-based Russian artist Svetlana Kalachnik taking place at the Galería María Soto in Torre del Mar from now until January 8th 2011. The works feature scenes and characters from everyday life.

Back to the drawing board

Vélez-Málaga Council is now exploring alternative means of setting up a district Foreigners Department in Torre del Mar after the Central Government finally announced it had decided not to set up such a facility in the town and handed back a property ceded by the Council for this purpose.
